I don't know if trailers are the same as cars, but cars that are totaled are now given salvage titles and cannot be re-registered even if they are repaired. That is because of the scams on flood cars.

When you have a claim, that's when you find out if your cheap insurance was worth it. I don't shop around, just put my new toy hauler on my State Farm home & vehicle list.
Then I use monthly average to have to keep paying every time a policy is due.

This, I'm sure, varies by state. Cars in Texas can be registered after repair but they are given a salvaged title. Insurance companies however will not sell full overage insurance for them, only liability.

Totaled Trailer

We had a similar incident this past year. We had a rather large Red Oak tree on our property that was past it's prime and needed to come down .We hired a "Professional " tree service to drop the tree , and I was going to cut it up for firewood. Things didn't go quite as planned.
they large branch that hit the trailer busted the rear cap broke the fridge vent, and flattened the AC and shifted the rear wall on the back side. This was on a 2002 MobilScout 32RKFS. Needless to say they totaled it. The adjuster looked up and turned in book value, without consulting us. We had already gone thru every available resource to find comparable trailers. After weeks of sending data back and forth with adjuster we settled for 3,000.00 more than the original offer. We decided not to try and repair, but bought our current trailer. When dealing with Insurance Co. always remember they ARE NOT YOUR FRIEND! They are in business to make money and to hold onto it as long as possible.Always do what You can to minimize further damage, get lots of pictures and don't be in a hurry to settle.

I had a small tear in my roof that was the fault at the factory. Jayco decided to replace the entire roof. Three months later I got my trailer back with a new roof. My point is you can make the repairs if you know what you are doing. It may sound simple but depends on how handy you are and whether or not you want to take the risk. I think your insurance company will pay less deductible. Good luck.
