Replace tires?

I have a 2013 Jayco 23B hybrid with original tires. I want to put new tires on for highway trip. My tire size is ST185/80R3. What brand do you reccomend? Wanted Goodyear Endurance but they are not available in 13 inch tires.

Maxxis 8008 's are very good tires and they do make them in 13 inch.

Running Maxxis 8008's on our X19H. Coming up on 4 years now and they are still fine, no noticeable wear, no sidewall issues.

Before the Endurance came out they seemed to be the top choice in most threads here on JOF, which was good enough for me.

There are many threads on here about tires.

I would highly recommend the Carlisle Radial Trail HD. It comes in the size you require and they get excellent reviews.

I just got home from having those Carlisle's installed on our utility trailer. Nice tires indeed. Those were my next choice for our TT if I wasn't able to get the Goodyears.

I replaced the 13" Towmax tires on my 2013 X20E (also ST185/80R3) last spring. There was a shortage of tires in this size at the time. I wanted Maxis or Carlisle. No dice, none in stock anywhere and no one could tell me when they'd come in. I did not want to ride on 7 yo tires. I ended up with the same Towmax tires. The first set lasted 7 seasons. In my previous research I could not find failures with their 13" tires, only the 14" and 15". And they were a lot less money.

I replaced my OEM tires with Maxxis 8008's as soon as I got my trailer home from the dealer in 2016. They have June of 2016 date codes on them and about 10,000 miles but they look as good as the day I installed them. I am considering swapping them just because they have reached the 5 year mark but may look for one more season out of them. I will likely go with Maxxis again.

X2, I upsized to load range D. They are wearing nicely. I run at 65 psi, had metal valve stems installed.

I've been using Carlisle tires on trailers for years. I replaced Trailer Kings (?) on our NTU TT in 2018. We haven't put a ton of miles on them, but the Raidial Trail HDs made a tremendous difference.

We purchased from Discount Tire and I can't recommend them high enough.

And I had a Carlisle blow out on me with little use so I would recommend going to your local Discount Tire or similar and talking with people who sell thousands of tires a year and know what works and what does not.

Maxxis 8008 would be my choice.

I had 2 16” TowMax tires fail within 70 miles of each other. TPMS saved my bacon both times. Can’t say enough bad about TMax and can’t say enough good about my TireMinder!
The Endurance was pretty new when I needed new rubber so I bought G’year G614’s. That was 2014 or 2015 and they’ve been flawless. When the time comes I will likely replace them with the Endurance.

Those 13" wheels are going to haunt you for the rest of the life of your trailer. I changed mine to 14" and bought Goodyear Endurance. If you have trouble on the road finding 13" tires can be a problem.

I just ordered the the same size Carlisle HD tires from Walmart this morning for my 19H. I splurged for the load range D tire rather than the C which is what the old Maxim tires were. They are Carlisle number 6HO4541. The 531 tire is the LR C.The LR D cost me $69 x 4 with free delivery. The LR C are $58 plus change.

Thanks, I will look into the metal valve stems. Something about that sounds better.

Real metal valve stems have nuts, not just a metal sleeve over the rubber. They should cost $2.50 to $5.00 each and are available from many auto parts stores. The exception would be if you have aluminum wheels with a deeo hole where the stems go. If so then you need the Dill "shoulder nut" bolt in stems available from Discount tire.

Anyone had experience going to a larger tire size? My 212QB has 205/75-14's and I was considering going to 215's?

If you belong to Family Motor Coach Association, they have a discount deal with Michelin. I don't know if Michelin makes 13" tires, but it's worth looking into for the great discount. Gander Outdoors recommends replacing tires every 5 years so this week I am replacing all six tires before we hit the road for our summer camping vacation.
