Door locking by itself from outside

The latch on our entrance door has started to lock without the key. The cylinder where you put the key on the outside (not the deadbolt) rotates to the lock position, presumably from vibration of opening and closing the door.

Fortunately, DW has been inside every time it's happened and says the red handle hasn't moved to the lock position.

Is there a simple fix for this or would it be easier to just replace the entire assembly? If the latter, is there a particular lock or brand I should look for?

TIA.

Ours locked us out last year with the keys inside. After a couple hour drive to retrieve a master key from our dealer we were good again.

We’ve since converted our entire trailer to be keyless, that is unless the batteries die in the door lock....

On our tt, the red handle is only for the dead bolt. Has no affect on the latch handle. I can lock the latch handle, with the door open, when I close the door, the door is locked from the outside, and can be opened from the inside.

I suspect, recently, someone is turning the key back to the lock position before removing the key.

Ours has done this since new but only a few times. It does have the touch pad and I keep a hidden key outside just in case.

I posted this question on another forum and got the reply below:

If you go to the link below it is for Wesco the supplier of FIC locks. There was a recall for my '07 and they sent new keys, tumblers, replacement tool and return envelope for tool and locks. Great company to deal with.
Recall Page

I still have to confirm some numbers but I may have found the solution to my problem.

... cold as Hell

Well I am glad to know that I was not the only one to have the is issue. My problem is it occurred 11pm 6 hours from second key (I thought my key was inside) at roughly 15 to 25 degrees Fahrenheit. Long story short I don't know if I can replace the cylinder or if I irreparably damaged the whole door assembly. I was cold, tired, pissed off, and creative eough to get inside where my heater was doing its job.
