Countertops

Has anyone replaced the countertops in their motorhome?

Our 2018 Greyhawk has that vinyl-wrapped MDF stuff, and I'm not a fan. The only problem I've had with them so far is the sink "inserts". One of them is swollen a bit. Not a HUGE deal, but they're made the same way as the rest of the countertops, and I can see the potential for an issue in the future.

I try to check the caulking around the openings frequently, and so far, so good. But it just seems like it could be a matter of time before my luck runs out.

No way I'm going to let Jayco put the same thing back in, so if/when it happens to me, I'm going to put in solid surface countertops. I'm thinking I might just do it BEFORE I have a problem if it's not too expensive.

I'm generally pretty handy, and I don't mind taking things apart, figuring out how they work, and then putting them back together. But obviously I can't "make" a Corian countertop. Or at least I don't THINK I can...?

Thoughts?

For corian or any other brand solid surface counters, you’ll need a countertop shop to fabricate the top for you. Be advised that it’s not cheap. You could save a lot if they offer any remnant pieces but of course you’ll be limited in your selection to what they have as remnants versus getting a new “slab”

Prefab Formica could be an option but not for undermounted sinks.

Butcher block is another option but it’s heavy and could potentially warp with the wide temperature and humidity swings of a camper.

Whatever you choose, use the existing tops as your template
