Leveling "Lego" blocks

I have a rookie question.
Why the blocks are consider 1" in height if they measure 1.5"

Because a half-inch of each one is nested inside of the bottom of the next one in the stack. Yes, if you only used one it would give you 1.5" of lift on concrete, but on resilient surfaces (sand or dirt) it will sink in about half an inch due to the weight of the wheels or stabilizers pushing down, so each one generally gives you an additional inch of lift.

BTW - forget about the trouble of figuring our how many legos to use (I did that for years) and get some Andersen levelers. Sooo much easier to use and more accurate.

Leveling Blocks

Jayco 24B,

And remember, If you need to raise one side of your rig only 1/2", just pull one wheel onto the block (rather than both wheels). That will raise the rig about 1/2 of what pulling both wheels onto the blocks would do.

Happy camping!

Well, your other option is to spend $3,600 and get the hydraulic levelers installed, then you can adjust down to the 1/4" level.

Andersen levelers are great until they break in half. I've had 2 break, 1 in 20 deg weather , the other in summer. I like them enough that I bought another set. They say they are warrantied, but I couldn't get any help replacing them.

I also have a set of the "lego" blocks. Haven't been out of their storage bag in years.

My comma shaped andersen leveler broke with a pop while traveling. I called and they shipped out a new one to my next stop. No problems at all with warranty coverage.
Also called them more than once on installing the hitch and each time they were very helpful. I also called a couple of times about the upgrade to the andersen hitch and then ordered the package. The parts came quickly and in perfect condition.

Anyone recommending Anderson levelers have a class C? The OP has a class C and from what I can tell those that are recommending Anderson have a trailers. I am curious how the Anderson holds up to a class C. From what I have gathered from earlier searches they have the weight capacity but their website only mentions trailers.

Edit. I forgot why I didn't try the Anderson levelers. Most time more than 1 wheel needs to be raised and they are all at different amounts. I can see how this could be an issue with the Anderson levelers. They would be great if only 1 wheel needs to be raised or if 2 at the same amount. For that rare occasion I decided they weren't worth taking up valuable storage space. If I had a trailer though it would be a no brainer.

I had emailed Anderson about Class C’s. They responded they weren’t designed for it but if I tried them out and they failed they would warrant them anyway.

To topic: I carry many bags of legos w/ me even though I have levelers. The long wheelbase and 4 points creates the need to use multiple bags at times if you don’t want your levelers to start taking wheels off the ground. I prefer my levelers fine tune my level w/ some weight still on the tires.

My legos came with a chart and diagram of how many to use and how to stack them to raise the wheels in each increment.

I have the expensive auto leveling system and still use the blocks. I've learned that the leveling system is great if your only a few degrees out of level. If your looking at a foot of lift or more the auto leveling system is a no go. With the blocks I can get it "eyeball level" then let the system do its thing.

Anderson Levelers are great for TT's and even a 5ver, but not for a class C. I fought with Lego's for 2 years until one night I have to level in the rain and mud, swore never again. I bought and installed power levelers from Quadra (Big Foot), easy install as they supply everything except the drill (and 3 bits). Took me one day to install the manual system and I was so happy I could level from the drivers seat. When I got mine they were $1700, now $2100, but so worth it. I sold the rig 5 years later and never had one issue with them.

Just switch to manual and use your phone on the floor with the 'bubble level' app up. Works just fine.

Anderson levelers look great, but we still use our 2X6X17s with 45 degree cuts on ends. Just spent $3.60 at Home Depot for a board to make 4 more of them. They usually stack well and can go up several inches on a side. We also use 6X6X1/4 plywood bases for stabilizer feet and one of a couple short pieces of 4X4 prn for the jack stand. Several 2X6X6 blocks also come in handy. The pieces we use regularly have a rope loop attached to to the side with a staple to grab with a hook when time to pick up. The stacked 2X6s do tend to slip at times. I'm experimenting with pegs or non-skid like expanded aluminum b/t them...
Love to play with our little rig. lol

My issue is without blocks on really unlevel spots I get out of stroke message. I've really only had 1 or 2 spots that I really needed the blocks but I've gotten in the habit of using them so I just keep on keeping on with them. Plus I have the electric leveling system and I've seen tons of early failures with the system. So I try to minimize how much the system actually has to do in an effort to extend the problem free life of it. 2.5 years and I've had no issues with my system. On the other had the dealer popped the main fuse for the front Jack's while it was in the shop for some other minor repairs. They got to eat that fuse and I guess it was like $50. Lol.. I guess I'm just gun shy with the system. I really dont want to have any issues with it.

I use to use wood blocks but the light weight and easy storage of the "Lego" blocks is pretty convenient. I just keep them in a double sized milk create instead of trying to stuff them back in the bag they come with. Then I stuff that create and my tire chocks in the bed of the truck. Normally with my power cord in another double milk create. Makes for easy access to get camp set up and taken down. But I use a few milk creates for different things. They are cheap, easy to access and stack great. And if one disappears they are easy and inexpensive to replace.
