I primarily use google maps now, a couple of tips I learned (along with jagiven's tips) is that you can download the maps so you don't have to have cell phone data all the time (or if you are limited).

Once upon a time, I tried waze on one phone, google maps on another, along with my trusty garmin, when coming into a larger city waze told me to take the next exit, google told me to turn around when possible, and garmin got stuck on recalculating. Point being, just settle on one app and again as mentioned already, check the route prior to driving so you know where to turn even if the gps doesn't. ~CA

Try RVPARKY. I have used it and it does take height into consideration for routing.

I use my Garmin for most long haul routes. I occasionally use Waze to check for traffic and police, but don't trust it for routing your RV,. Waze almost got me killed taking me on roads not suitable for my RV. Get some good maps and double check your route, if your GPS agrees you're good to go.

It really does not matter which GPS. They all lead you on strange routes. I have used Garmin for years, on the road and in the wilds of back country. If you have not done your homework before you start out you will not know you are lost until it is too late. Do not trust a GPS and trust a free GPS even less!

Bingo!

I'm not opposed to online maps, but as a general rule I try to figure out where I'm going before I leave. GPS has led me on too many wild goose chases.

After planning our route using RV Garmin and Google maps I check out any concerns I have with roads I have not been on with Google street view.
