Winterize 2016 Redhawk Class C- water heater and by pass valve
We are ready to winterize our new 2016 Redhawk - however we can't locate the water heater and by pass valve.
This set up is not like our Jayco travel trailer. SO far we have blown the lines but not added any antifreeze as we don't want to fill the water heater.
We've searched EVERYWHERE and can't find any valve-
Please help- temps are dropping...

What model do you have? The locations vary by model.

Isn't the water heater bypassed by using the winterize dial selections in the water command center?

Our redhawk doesn’t work like that. Our bypass is beside the hot water heater under the kitchen counter behind a vent panel.

Oh, I didn't know that. I though Redhawks and Greyhawks shared the same water command center.

I don’t have a picture handy but based on pictures online, it looks like it sits under the refrigerator. Take the panel off below that and you should see it.

Remove one of these vent covers. Bypass valves should be behind one of those. Mine are behind the one under the stove. Sorry the pullout trashcan is in the way but best picture i had without going to the motorhome. You can see the two grills...one under refrigerator and one under the stove. Cutoff / bypass for water heater should be behind one of those. Remove the 4 screws holding the grill on to face of cabinet and you should find them.

I didn't think Greyhawks had a bypass on the water heater b/c of the winterize function on the command center. I can't remember bypassing my first Greyhawk, and I don't recall any pink stuff in the water heater.
???

Mine has bypass...I had a valve wrong when we took our first trip and we didn't have very hot water. I removed that panel under the stove and the bypass valves had one between that was not closed. Fixed my problem...but yes there are bypass on Greyhawks.

I've never used the bypass in years prior. I thought that's what the winterizing function was on the control panel.

The winteizing on the control panel only sets the valves so you can use a short hose attached to the fresh water inlet to suck antifreeze into the system with out having to put it in the fresh water tank. It uses the water pump to pull antifreeze from a container into the water lines.
You still need to bypass the water heater or all your antifreeze will go into the water heater tank.
I bet if you look where I have mentioned you will find your bypass valves.

I'm sure your right, but I can guarentee you on my prior Greyhawk I never did that and I didn't put 6 gallons of pink stuff in the heater. So I wonder how that didn't happen?

So to put the tank in bypass - turn all the valves I see by the tank?

Correct. You're turning the cold line and hot line off and opening the line between the two. So, 3 valves in all.

Thanks guys I’ll take a look this weekend - it’s winterizing weekend. I blew the lines out last week, this week it’s pink time.

X2...Sorry I've been away from the computer but this by drk98 is spot on. Don't forget to put some pink stuff in all your drains for p traps protection. Remember the outside shower. Let us know how it goes. You might want to take a few pictures of those bypass valves for future guys with questions. I bet this time of year were going to be hearing a lot about this stuff.
