water pump pumps back out of the fill connection

Jayco Eagle 321RSTS When I dewinterized our new to us camper I power filled 15 gallons of water into our fresh water tank. I set all of the valves to the dry camp position and turned the pump on. It pumps water back out of the city water fill connection. Any ideas?

Check the position of the cone shaped screen just inside the city fill connection. Sounds like it may be reversed.

I called the dealer and their tech said the water pump was probably wired backwards. I couldn't hang up soon enough. Camper has been used for two years it probably didn't rewire itself over winter.

That is exactly why I do all my own repairs and don't rely on dealers for anything...
