Allergies ?

Has anyone experienced allergic reactions to their Jayco ? Such as upper respiratory, sinus, and watery eyes.We have only used our new trailer a few times and it seems I have had some type of allergic reaction each time. Could be coincedental to the outside surroundings but not sure. I did not have problems with our previous trailer. Just wonder if there is some type of product that was used in the manufacturing that could be causing this ?

You may be allergic to some of the chemicals used in the manufacturing process. Open the windows and roof vents and let the RV air out for a week. Also a thorough vacuuming will help.

I vacuumed it good after we purchased it . I have some vent covers to install and after doing that I will open the vents and leave them open and see if that helps.

I had similar issues last year with our new 5er. Hopefully this year will be better. I think its all the varnish and new carpet smell in such a small area gets all at once and WHAMO.

We bought a new trailer last summer and leave the doors and windows open as much as the weather will let us. I think 75% of the smell is the linoleum flooring. I work in new houses that have the same smell when linoleum is installed.

We bought a memory foam mattress topper and the DW had symptoms just like you describe afterward. She told me either the topper went or her, well I gave the topper away to my eldest son and still have my beloved DW. The trailer fumes never seemed to bother her though, and after 3+ years have surely dissipated by now.

A friend of mine has allergies to formaldehyde. She keeps her ceiling exhaust fan on when she is camping. She also airs out the camper for a few days before she goes camping. I hope this helps.

Do the Jayco`s have formaldeheyde used in the manufacturing ? For some reason I did not think they used that although I could be wrong. I don`t think its the vinyl flooring cause I put that in my house and my previous TT and did not have any reactions unless its a different glue that Jayco used. I am still planning on installing the vent covers and leaving the vents open and see is that helps.

Thanks for all the suggestions and tips.
