Freshwater tank filling while connected to city water supply.
My freshwater tank is filling and overflowing while connected to the city water supply. I have run the pump multiple times, for extended periods to see if that would unstick a valve. No luck. Any suggestions?

You may get better response if you post what model and year for your rig.

It is flowing through the check valve of the pump into the tank. Try this: Turn off the city water. With water in the fresh tank, Turn on all of the faucets to get maximum flow. Turn on the pump and let it rip. Now turn off the faucets and see if the pump cycles without reason.

The check valve in the pump on my 22 33RBTS went bad on our second trip. It's an easy fix if you don't want to deal with warranty...

Looks as though this is my problem also on a 2022 Jayco bungalow. Before i rip out half the insulation maybe someone could give me the location of my pump. The manual does not identify that.

If your rv has an Anderson valve for the water you need to replace it. They go bad and they make a brass replacement now rather than the plastic

fresh water filling
Our 2018 28RSTS did this when it was almost new. Tried all the above suggestions to get the valve to close without success. They ended up replacing the pump.

I noted that my freshwater tank was also taking in water and have NEVER used it. I called the dealer and spoke to service. They told me that it was probably a poor fitting seal in the pump that allowed water from the pressure in the city water feed get by and into the tank. I fixed it myself by installing a shutoff valve just downstream from the pump. It worked. I only use the pump for winterizing so was a no-brainer. I would post a picture but the TT is permanently parked at a seasonal camp and is closed up for the winter. If I remember I'll post a picture next spring when we don't have the cruel weather we have now in N/W Ontario.
Cheers, Rick

its so common ... water pump check valve leaking allowing city water to fill the fresh water tank.
You have a few solutions:
1- Replace pump check valve
2- install aftermarket check valve on the fresh water tank line to pump
3- Install a ball cock valve on the fresh water line to pump.
4- replace the pump with another one who will likely do the same thing a few years or less from now.
I on my last to TT installed #3 .... only because it won't fail like a check valve might
15mn job less than 10.00 dollars and the peace of mind :-)
we usually use the pump only while we are on the road . We rarely camp without services, and anyway , its no big deal to flip the valve open when we flip the switch pump to on .... have fun

Mine was letting a little water get back into the FW tank, so I knew the pump check valve likely was faulty. It also leaked at the outflow fitting. So I did similar to the two previous posts and spliced in a brass check valve to stop the city connect back flow. In the times we use the pump, such as for sanitizing the lines, I don’t have to remember to turn a valve. It flows that direction just fine.

You really don't need to replace the whole pump. Put one of these in series with your pump water line.

For $20 less you can buy a quality brass one rather than a plastic one. ShurFlo seems rather overpriced.
