Mattress topper vs new mattress
We picked up a new to us 2017 32tsbh. This was the first weekend that we stayed overnight in it and the queen bed is like a solid brick to sleep on. We picked up an egg crate topper and it did not help. We are trying to figure out if a 3 or 4 inch memory foam topper would make it more comfortable or if a full replacement is best. The mattress is at least double the. Ost of a topper. We only use it from May to September on weekends and July and August full time. We don't want to spend a fortune but also don't want to do a topper and then have to replace it anyway. Any suggestions on what everyone has done for this is appreciated.

To me putting anything on those crappy mattresses is like putting perfume on a pig, its still a pig. Some are happy with a topper, I don't see how, I go rid of mine real quick and bought a memory foam mattress and have been very happy.

We had a 3" topper from our class B that we put on our bed in our TT to get a good night's sleep. The topper is a moderately high quality memory foam one and was not inexpensive, but we've had it for a number of years. As you found out, the inexpensive softer foams really don't help very much.
IMO, rather than buy an expensive topper, you'll be happier if you put your money toward a 'bed in a box'. That's what we are going to do later this season.
Online you'll find there are a number of different brands, mattress thicknesses, and types. Evaluating all the choices online will keep you busy for a while.

We have a topper on ours and it is just fine for now. We may invest in a new mattress after this season though.

First year I had my TT I chucked the crappy mattress that came with the trailer and put a Costco 10" memory foam mattress in (better than the one I have in the house) and have been sleeping happily ever since

We found that the memory foam topper we purchased was considerably hotter that without. Ended up replacing the mattress.

We are picking up our new 33RBTS this coming weekend and the Simmons mattress is like a rock as well. The opinions posted above has convinced me that the wife will be getting a new mattress for the house and our current one is destined for the new TT.

Last year we put a memory foam topper from Costco on the rock. It has made all of the difference in the world. We spent about 50 nights on it last year and not one sleepless night.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the new JayFlight.
When bought ours, they were featuring Denver mattresses. We were very disappointed. I'm sure it's just as bad as your Simmons mattress. A topper made it tolerable, but after tolerating it for several years we're replacing it this year.

We have a $3000 mattress at the house. Our RV has an OEM mattress, equipped with a 3" foam topper. I travel extensively for bizness and thus stay at motels all over the place.
Of course, the house is the best, but when we're camping I am sooo happy because its still better than most hotels.
BTW if the hotel isn't at least 4-star I don't even consider it.

I agree with much of the above, the mattress that came in my 2018 last June is terrible. Even with a mattress topper, it's not worth keeping. I'll be looking for a new mattress once camping season gets going for me.

Our 2017 Open Range TT came with a crappy mattress I wouldn't let a dog sleep on. We purchased a Lucid Short Queen memory foam 10" mattress for $299. Sam's Club has a good memory foam mattress for $299 also but it's regular queen. Most TT can handle a queen but it might be tight. The King Serta that came on our 355 is awesome. It came with the order. Splurge on the mattress. You won't regret it.

My '12 eagle came with the full queen Denver pillow top mattress and I didn't think it was terribly uncomfortable from the start. 2 years ago just for s&g's I bought a WalMart 3'' memory foam topper and have realized how uncomfortable the mattress really was. Now it's like sleeping on the clouds, very nice.

I'm glad to hear that. We took the maiden voyage with our new coach last week, and felt that the mattress was like lying on plywood. Wifey just brought home a decent 3" memory foam topper for it, but we haven't tried it yet. It sounds like it could be a winner, based on your experience.
Question for anyone, we have to fold the mattress when we bring in the slide. Does anyone know if a 3" topper jambs up the mattress from folding?

We kept the original queen mattress that came with our 2018 Eagle HT and put a topper on it. After a year and a half we still sleep very comfortably.

Have had my 264BH for over a year now and hated the stock mattress (Simmons pad I think). Anyway, I did a lot of searching on this forum and ended up purchasing Arctic Dreams Gel Memory Foam "short" Queen via Amazon....love it! Even purchased a full sized queen for the house.

New mattress gets my vote!

My thoughts about toppers exactly.
Since I full time I replaced my original mattress with a SleepNumber mattress. that was almost 9 years ago. The best investment I have made in a while, but no doubt a little pricey for weekend only use.
I couldn't even give the original mattress away for dog use. No one wanted it and it was even hard to get it ignited when I burned it.
