No ladder on the Jay Flight SLX - why?

I will never understand why Jayco does not put a roof ladder on the SLX models, especially those with a slide, like they do on the Jay Flight.

How do they expect you to clean the slides, inspect the roof, put a cover on?

Just venting.............

Just as mystified as you

I have a 2015 Precept 35up and it doesn't come with a ladder either. With two AC units, two vents, a skylight and other odds and ends up there, eventually I am going to have to go up. Now the problem will be how not to damage anything in the process. What were they thinking???

They can save $28 in parts/labor per trailer.

A ladder was an option on my TT. I took it.

Cheaper model = less stuff, period... even if it should almost be a mandatory item.

If they could have left off a tire or two, they probably would have done that too.

Not unique to the SLX line, many trailers have no ladder. I have had three and all with no ladder. I just use my own. One problem with the SLX line is some standards and options available on the Jayflight cannot even be ordered on rhe SLX.

I've been wondering if it is safe for the trailer to be on the roof of a Jay Flight Swift

Ladder would have been an option on a '13 Jay Flight.

It's what makes a SLX a SLX. Jayco takes a Jay Flight, removes $100 worth of features and options, and reduces the price $50.

I will say one thing, WRT the ladder. A ladder was a must have for me. Would save me the problem of taking a ladder with me everywhere.

Once I got my 23RB w/ the ladder, I quickly figured out I couldn't practicly use the ladder. When I was younger once and in the US Navy, I could go up and down vertical ladders. Now, in my much older, out of shape self, I struggle with vertical ladders.

I will now need an angled ladder irregardless if a trailer has a ladder or not.

My previous trailer had no ladder, part of the deal when I bought it was for them to install one. I believe it may cost 3-$400 to have one installed at a dealer, and its not a big job for them.

Yowza, that cost would give me heartburn for a lightweight RV ladder. Mine was a $90 option in 2012, and that cost made me think hard about it.

I live in Canada , so $90 American is like $300 Canadian

The $300 includes ladder and labour. Most shops up here charge $100 an hour for labour.

I think for SLX they have lighter (aka weaker) walls and roof, that's why ladder is not even the option.

My Jayflight 27 BHS does not have a ladder. It was already on the lot when I purchased it. They could have ordered and installed one before delivery for extra cost. Looking back I wish I had it done along with stronger bumper for bike rack.
Still plan on adding both sometime in the future!

I thought the same thing but I realized later that was only for the smaller models that are only 7' wide.
The 8' wide dual axle TT's both have hardwood not OSB on the roof & floors

What would it take/cost to get one? I have a '17 245RLSW w/ no ladder, though I see some of the "Baja" editions with them. I'd like to add one. Thoughts?
