Not hot enough
Hi folks,
Is there a way to raise the temperature in my 6 gallon Atwood hot water heater? The unit is a new electronic type and I don't see any temperature adjustment like my old one had.
Thanks in advance.

Are you sure your bypass or outside shower head is not on mixing? My 10 gal is almost 130.

My gas only heater in the X23B had a temperature adjustment but the gas/electric in the 351 does not. If the bypass valves are correct check the temp by catching some water directly from the water heater pressure relief valve and check the temp with a meat thermometer. Be careful!

This problem has come up before on the forum and the issue was the bypass valves as noted by others.
Typical winterizing bypass valve setup:

Thank you for your reply. The trouble is not with all faucets. My kitchen, outside shower, sink all have sufficient hot water. It's my shower. I have to practically shut the cold all the way off for a hot shower.
Thanks!

That sounds like an issue with that particular faucet or supply line to the shower.

What year and model trailer do you have? Most people complain about it being too hot. My thought is you may have some construction debris in the water line blocking the flow. Do you have good hot water flow at the tub faucet, and temperature? If not, I would remove the faucet and clean out the ports. I do not know of any TTs that have an anti scolding feature.

I bet your 100 percent right. I sucked up junk from the lake where we camp (boondocking camping). It made my pump cycle on and off. I will check the hot water faucet I bet you nailed the problem.
Thank you!

I know this is an old thread but I didn't want to start another as hopefully people will search for answers.
We have found our heater is not hot enough, after reading here I searched and found my bypass valves. If you see the picture below I believe my bypass valve is wide open. The dealer never closed it and I didn't know to look before this. I am sure someone can confirm this and that it is the correct valve to close. Thanks.

Yep. As you can see, all three of your valves are wide open (hot, cold and bypass).
Simply turn the bypass valve, (which you have correctly identified) to be perpendicular to the piping and you will be OK.
In fact, you may find that your water is too hot. If you want to adjust the temp down a bit, just play with opening the bypass valve a bit and use trial and error until you get the water temperature that you want.

Yes, that should be closed for normal operation. The other valves are fine.
See RV Water Heater Bypass Systems for a good reference.

Yes that is the bypass valve and needs to be closed for normal operation. Turn it perpendicular to the pipe.

Yep that is the bypass valve. Normally it should be closed. Some people leave it cracked open a little to mix a little cool water with the extremely hot water to temper it.

Thanks. I did as everyone said and WOW is it hot now. So I throttled back the hot a little and now it is perfect. I love this place!
