I have 2 overflows just like that. I put a quarter turn hose shut off valve on each. Much easier than removing and putting the caps back on each time. Both are overflows for the freshwater tank.

Had similar issue with mine. The water connections to the faucet worked loose a little bit and were dripping. Trap under the sink may have a small crack in it also that could cause a slow drip/leak.

Had similar wrinkles on mine - although not as bad. After being heated up on sunny hot days they eventually disappeared. That was about 5 years ago and have had no problems since.
