Battery disconnect issue
2018 28 ft whitehawk with 2six volt batteries. Installed battery disconnect on positive terminal but still have 12 volts inside trailer with disconnect in off position. How can this happen?
2018 whitehawk.

The only thing I can think of is some issue with the disconnect switch. Take the battery positive terminal off and see if you still have power. If you don't then it's the switch.

Does the trailer get power when plugged into the tow vehicle? Is the OP plugged into his vehicle or plugged into shore power?

The trailer is sitting static with nothing hooked to it. No shore or vehicle power. I disconnected the switch and even with the positive cable not connected there’s still 12 volt power inside the trailer. The control panel has power. The radio has power. The carbon dioxide detector and USB connector LED lights are on. This isn’t making sense.

Can you share a photo of the batteries as you have them in the disconnected state? If you disconnect both pos and neg terminals what happens?

On my 2011 the 12v items would work without battery. Your converter converts 120v to 12v Unplug your shore power, I promise everything will go off!

Dennis B post #4 nothing hooked up to the trailer. Sounds like the Battery disconnect switch may be bad

I recently bought a disconnect switch, that was faulty, it would not disconnect. I took it back and they gave me a replacement. working good now. It looked like this one. ( autozone)

There has to be a secondary power source somewhere in the trailer. This might be feature of the converter (a small battery that gets charger during converter operation) or a capacitor that has some residual charge that is powering some 12V devices.

Exactly what I was just thinking. Maybe a small, backup, 12 volt battery stored in another compartment, or in a cabinet somewhere, that also gets charged when plugged into shore power.

...or the battery disconnect switch isn't between the + battery post and the trailer.

My rig has a 2nd positive lead on the battery bank that goes right past the disconnect switch into the bundle heading towards the panel.
On many rigs the CO and smoke alarms plus electronics with memories (like a leveler, digital control panel) will by thusly hardwired. The only truly disconnected battery is one with no cables on it.

So DLS1955, to make sure iam reading this right you have no wires at all touching the positive post and still have power. You said the positive cable is removed but what about any other little gauge wires on the positive post. Just wanted to be clear

When I mounted my disconnect switch I used the negative side of the battery and hooked all the ground wires to it. just incase anything comes lose or the plastic case breaks it wont have a lose positive wire arc or short out

Is it possible that a second battery is installed somewhere for the emergency braking system and it is connected to the panel?

Hello, reconnect the positive and connect the disconnect switch on the negative side. There should be a cable from negative terminal leaving the battery box to the frame. . Remove it at the frame and it put that on your disconnect switch and get another cable and run it from the switch to the frame.
