Don't know. It's been whistling/chirping when I start it and it does the same when accelerating. The only good thing is I bought an extended warranty from Ford when the truck was new.

I wish I could say that engine has been trouble free, but it hasn't. 2 throttle bodies, a pair of turbos, and now a pair of exhaust manifolds.

Broken bolts? had that on my 5.4 motors. now I can look forward to same problem on 3.5? Cast iron meets aluminum...never a good outcome. you'd think with all the technology available to engineers they'ed come up with a solution to this. Must be fords new trademark! So about 1k per side?

Not broken bolts. Either cracked or warped manifolds.

Should be finding out something today. I need my truck back within a couple of days. Got a camping trip with my granddaughter next week.

I’ve had broken manifold bolts replaced twice on my ram.

I've had to replace broken exhaust manifold bolts on my wife's Ram and also my father's old Dakota 4.7L. It is very common in the Dodge/Ram line.

I haven't heard much about the modern LS based GM powerplans having this problem. However, it is very common with Ford and Ram in my experience.

Updated the software....

I'm a self-confessed geek and gadget addict, but am I alone in feeling nervous that I now have to do code updates on my CAR?

It does seem rediculous, but the option is paying a stealership to do it.

At least it isn't the Bill Gates plan to update your IRQs in the config.sys and program execution in autoexec.bat using edlin and reboot......

just be thankful you don't have to reboot it every couple of days... and reboot after every fill up... or random spot while driving... in all honesty cars are pretty stable... and if you don't want to take the update because it doesn't effect your vehicle you don't have to!!! hoooooorrah!

Schwinteck motors out of sync

Hired a 3rd party mobile RV repair man to help with my kitchen slide. Last trip, the slide was out of sync a bit and you could see a couple of inches faster on one side over the other. I attempted to resync (in/out) but no joy.

The tech reset the controller by pressing the button 6 times then holding on the 7th to get the X-mas tree (red/green) lights. This put it in manual override and the slide motors went faster than before. From completely closed, he slid it in/out 3-4 times and it sync'd up. He said after 5 min the manual override resets back to normal. I tested the slide when he was done and it's working fine again.

He said the problem with these sync'd up slide motors is that you have to keep the button depressed about 6 seconds after they go all the way in or out. This way the motors know when they're done. If you go partial way in/out several times, they get out of sync. Bad engineering I suppose?
