Wifi Extender. So many options, please help!
I ordered a Jayco Eagle 355MBQS back in January and it should be here within a week or two. I am interested in putting some sort of wifi extender and even possibly a cellular service booster in it.
It seems theres a million options and some people swear by this options while others say they are junk. I'm looking for some real world experience here.
What are you all guy running for wifi extenders and cell boosters? Are you happy? Would you do it again? Pleae let me know, thanks!

I just bought and received the Weboost 4G-X RV. Plan to install it this spring. I have a Weboost at work that works great.
A cell booster will only boost a signal. If there is no signal, it won't work. A lot of ppl give it a bad review because they expect it to make a cell signal magically. It's not a cell tower, it's a weak signal booster.
The other reason for bad reviews is they don't install it properly. You must spread the two antennas as far apart as you can to prevent interference between the two.
The interior antenna is weak by design to prevent interference. So you will need to have the antenna close to the device for best results. The weaker the service, the closer you will want to be to the antenna.
If you use a magnetic exterior antenna, you will need to use a metal plate large enough to create a ground plane of the antenna will perform poorly.
I haven't used or researched wifi extenders. I can't help you on that.

I've got Verizon and changed my phone plan to the unlimited data deal, then added an elypsis Jet Pack (spelling) hotspot puck. Basically it added a phone line to my normal cell phone plan and does the same thing as the hotspot on my phone, except you can add up to 10 devices to the elypsis.
It becomes an irritant when I pass 15gb during the monthly cycle (on the elypsis phone line), only because any movies or tv I'm watching become a bit grainy at first. The data is still unlimited, but the speed slows way down after 15gb. When that happens, I turn on the cell phone hotspot and have another 15gb to go on the cell phone line.
For reference, I've got a laptop, iPad, and Firestick hooked into the elypsis hotspot and will go through 15gb in about half the billing cycle depending on how many movies/how much tv my daughter and I watch....still haven't figured out if the Firestick is using data when the tv is turned off...[emoji848]

Hi we are using an AP from Ubiquiti connected to an Asus router. AP is mounted to a paint pole that I velcro strap on the ladder. Gets it up above the roof line of the big RV,s.Plug it into the router. Router has a usb port that I plug a portable 1tb drive in load with movies. For cell I have not needed a booster yet.
YMMV

I am very interested in this also... I seen a lot on forum searches about the engenius ent202ext. What router are people using with It, does it matter? And other suggestions of equipment?

I went to the 2nd hand store and bought one for a few dollars. Works fine. I found one that works off of a 12Volt transformer and converted it to run off the TT's batteries. I doesn't make any difference of the MFR. I just use it on the basic 2.4Ghz and not the 5.8Ghz option.

Check out the Ubiquiti WiFi extender & router I installed in my previous Jay Flight...

I haven't decided whether I will install the same setup in my new Eagle HT.

I'm torn between something made by ubiquiti (bullet) or engenius. With your setup do you have issues with public Wi-Fi that requires you to go through web browser to login screen like MCDONALD'S or what some camp grounds right now?

With my Ubiquiti setup, I have no issues accessing WiFi access points that require manual entry via webpage. It’s a pretty seamless process. If you are slightly technical, you won’t have any issues setting it up.

What kind of range can you expect to be able to use wifi with a booster? At our favourite campsite, the wifi AP is about 5km away, can something even work over this distance? That’s about 3.1 miles.

Ubiquiti I have up is rated up to 15 km but no obstructions. Like across a lake. You need it up high enough to clear line of site to the campground ap. I have connected up a truck stop ap 3 miles thru a sparse bush. Not very fast connection but it connected and stayed connected and synced up my email

Just be aware that you can boost your Wifi all you want, but if the Campground has it throttled, it will not help if streaming TV/movies is your objective. Many CG's throttle to prevent bandwidth hogging. Generally not an issue for email or even VPN connections to your job lets say, but streaming video is a data hog.

I am using the Ubiquiti Nanostation which is a directional antenna, which means you have to point it directly at an AP to catch a good signal. I had it mounted to my TV antenna on the roof which was ideal because I was able to rotate the antenna to find the signal. I connected the Nanostation (via Ethernet) to a wireless router (airGateway) inside my trailer which gives devices connected to the router Internet access. This is a pretty challenging setup if you aren't at the least bit technical.

As jloco has stated, in most cases park WiFi speeds are throttled and very saturated by so other users connected at one time. However, if you stay up late enough when most folks are sleeping, you can get pretty good speeds.

I used Wifi for watching movies but since some campgrounds have terrible wifi service, I ended up using the Dish Playmaker. I always get excellent signal. Something to think about.

I been looking at the Ubiquiti Bullet and picking up an antenna for it. Honestly may go Omni as I want it as easy as possible. But since I may go Omni wanted to know if this is a good setup. Looks like a lot of the $400+ kits are made with Bullets and Omni antennas.
