What are you towing your North Point with?

We currently have a 2016 Eagle 321RSTS and at the winter RV show my wife and I really liked the North Point 381FLWS and she actually wanted to go back to it twice! We have a 2015 Ram 3500 SRW with Cummins and I told her it was probably a dually truck. After looking at the specs on it and comparing to the 377 which half the people on this site have, I realized they are almost identical. The GVWR is 16,750 and 20% of that would be 3350 pin weight. My truck has a cargo capacity of 3900 so we would be approaching that, but it's just my wife and I and we travel light so wouldn't be close to camper GVWR.

I know a dually would be ideal but how many of you are towing a North Point (and which model) with a 3500 SRW?

We're not really serious but it's fun to think "what if".

Im pulling our 377 with a 2000 F250 that has been heavily modified. 24v cummins, built trans with huge cooling system. So far no issues what so ever. Ive personally put a lot of time and effort into my tow vehicle to make it exactly what I want to tow with.

I pull my 377 with an F350 dually. Having the extra wheels really makes towing a much nicer experience. I’ve never towed with a SRW long bed, but I did with a short bed 3/4 ton and it was fine on flat, short trips but not so much for longer trips or trips in the mountains

My '16 Ram 3500 Cummins Dually does a fine job so far. I'll have an update when I get back from my 7000 mile 10 week trek through the Canadian Rockies. Welcome to the forum.

I tow a 375bhfs with a dually which gives me a a lot of carrying capacity. But I do carry a forward and rear tool box on the truck. A friend of mine has been towing his northpoint 383 for a couple of years all over the place with a 2016 F350 SRW. Just him and the wife and hasn't had any issue doing so. I would imagine he's within limits but he's a light hauler as far as carrying any thing in his truck other than the wife.

I have a 377 RLBH and I tow it with a 2015 F-250 diesel, short bed. The only thing I've done to the truck is add airbags. The truck handles it fine. I went up/down a 10% grade in Palo Duro Canyon with relative ease. No problems so far. Also using the Anderson Hitch.

I’ve gone done that “hill” with my 377 and f350 dually. Not for the faint of heart or for an underpowered tow vehicle.

My experience with a NP387. We started with a 2012 f350 SRW. Truck rawr was 7k, 11.5k gvwr, 23.5k GCVWR. The camper dry weight sticker is 14.1k. On the scales we were over GCVWR by 500 and truck gvwr by 200 with 6.6k on rear axle. I don’t remember some of the other values. We packed carefully and light to achieve these numbers.

Will it it tow it? No doubt it will. Any of the big 3 will. We did this for a year. Instability at times made us rethink and we decided to go to a DRW. 99.5% of the time we we were good. It was the remaining % that convinced us after an experience or two.

After towing now it was the smartest thing we could have done. No more tail wagging the dog. The front living was on our short list but the 387 won out due to storage.

2naEagle, I like your car/RV port. What are the dimensions? Care to share the cost? Thanks

It's 20x35x14 had it installed in 2004 I think for around $3500.
Had to do a little addition for the North Point.

I measured my trailer height at 13'6" while hooked to TV. Is your port 14' at the outside ends or just in the middle?
